The Apple Event, titled “Scary Fast”, was all about the Mac. In thirty minutes, Tim Cook wowed audiences and prosumers with a slick rundown of the next generation of Mac products – filmed entirely on iPhone, if you can believe that! Here’s everything you need to know. If you want to watch the event, you can do so here.
THE “SCARY FAST” APPLE EVENT WAS SHOT ENTIRELY ON IPHONE
Starting at the very end of the presentation video, the October 30 Apple Event was shot entirely using Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro Max device. It can shoot in ProRes Log due to the advanced A17 Pro chip.

The A17 Pro chip is based on a 3 nanometer architecture, meaning it can do more while consuming less power. A theme you’ll see cropping up throughout this breakdown. The event was also edited completely on Mac devices, something we’d presume most if not all of Apple’s pre-recorded keynotes were, but it’s good to have that confirmation.
INTRODUCING… M3 CHIPS
Apple wasted no time in saying how hard the team was working on the next generation of Apple silicon – called M3. Rather than simply introducing the one model, Jony Srouji, an M-series Apple Event mainstay, introduced 3 variants: M3, M3 Pro and M3 Max. No M3 Ultra, but we all know that’s coming soon.

These chips set new benchmarks in terms of CPU and GPU performance, energy efficiency, and Neural Engine speed.

Key Features:
- 3-Nanometer Process
- Next-Gen GPU: Features Dynamic Caching and introduces hardware-accelerated ray tracing and mesh shading to Macs for the first time
- CPU & Neural Engine: Performance cores and efficiency cores are 30% and 50% faster than M1’s. The Neural Engine is 60% faster.
- Unified Memory: Support for up to 128GB
- Media Engine: Now includes support for AV1 decode, enhancing video streaming efficiency.
