Today I attended the windows 7 launch held by Skanco and Microsoft UK . It was great to see so many turned out to what was really a well presented and well managed event. It was held at the Palace cinema - which I think was a great choice.

Windows 7 seems to bring a few exciting bits with it when used as a stand alone OS and even more when knitted into the Win 2008 (and I presume next versions) “eco-system”.  During the demo we were shown a couple intresting things focusing on an enhanced user experience. It would have been interesting to see the federated networking in action though.

I think the Decks (thats what slides are now called) are available from Skanco and I’m sure they would (Skanco) be happy to answer any further questions.

Like I said a well presented and well run event, so a big thank you to Andrew (from Microsoft) and everyone at Skanco . Hopefully this will be a start to many more events on the Isle of Man

Hey !!

The last in the soliD series. Dependency Inversion Principle - DIP, will be held on the 18th November 2009 -  25th November 2009 . Due to popular demand it was decided to postpone this as many could not make it. It should be at the same place (Dimension data-Isle of man) and for around the same time - start at 6:30pm. This will also be a good time to discuss the plans for the new year and finalize the curry night, so if you can make - great!!

So, back to DIP.

 High-level modules should not depend on low-level modules. Both should depend on abstractions.
Abstractions should not depend upon details. Details should depend upon abstractions.
